With all of the different avenues of approach to marketing these days, why in the world should your business consider adding video to the ever-growing list? Join us as we count down our Top 10 Reasons your business should be using video marketing.
#10 Video Sells Products
Now more than ever, people are depending on video to connect with businesses from which they intend to make a purchase. Retail Touchpoints stated that “Shoppers who viewed video were 174 percent more likely to purchase than viewers who did not.” Woah, hold on a minute! That is a huge percentage! Videos are quick to view and easy to share. If done correctly, you can pack a ton of information into a very short video clip while adding personality and likability, thus upping your trust-factor. People purchase products from people they know, like and trust. Video helps cover all the bases.
#9 Video Makes Purchasing Easier and More Convenient
So say you’re watching your favorite program and up pops a commercial for a product you have been wanting to purchase. You watch the commercial, but when its over your program comes back on and you end up forgetting about the commercial and the product! Now say you’re online and up pops a video for the same product. You click on the video link and it takes you directly to a video with information about the product AND an option to purchase the product quickly and easily with just the click of the mouse. Which scenario is going to make the sale? The video, that’s right BECAUSE the video takes you to an option to purchase…something traditional commercials do not have the power to do.
#8 Once a Video, Always a Video
Videos have a way of living in infamy. Once you take the time to properly (and awesomely) produce and post your video for your product or service, it’s there forever until you remove it. There is no need to rework the video, no need to repost it…you can simply keep promoting the same video through social media for as long as you like and still produce results. The longer your video stays live, the cheaper the production costs get. Talk about a great ROI!
#7 Analytics For Videos Are Outstanding
You always want to make sure that you are aware of what is working or not working for your business. The analytics for videos are awesome and can tell a business owner at a glance what is working or not working for their company. If a video is hot, Likes, shares and comments are going to be through the roof. If your video is not exactly “what the doctor ordered” so to speak, your numbers will be significantly lower. The bottom line is people love videos because they are quick, easy, entertaining, and informative…and they love to pass them on to others when they’re really super-cool!
#6 There’s No Wait Time For Feedback
Picture the scene; you’re on Facebook scanning the latest news from friends and family when up pops a video that your friend Jeff posted that’s got over 100,000 shares. We’ve all seen videos like this that go viral throughout social media in the blink of an eye. That is the immediate feedback that only video can give you. If your video is a hit, you’ll know it within a matter of days. On the flip-side, if your video is a flop you’ll know that as well. This immediate feedback allows you to either amp up your promotion of your video (if it’s doing well) or maybe consider taking it down and reworking it a bit (if it’s not doing well). This will save you precious time and money and help you figure out the best way to reach your target market.
#5 Videos Amp Up the Trust Factor
As I mentioned earlier, people buy products from businesses they know, like and trust, and what better way to build that rapport with a potential customer than through video. Video gives you an opportunity to use your voice inflection and body language to add personality and passion to the description of your product. MarketingCharts.com stated that “More than 60 percent of consumers will spend at least two minutes watching a video that educates them about a product they plan to purchase.” Why would you take a chance on missing out on reaching out to that precious 60% simply because your product or service didn’t market through video?
#4 Plain and Simply, Everybody’s Doing It
If you want to stay in the game, you’ve got to have the right equipment. When it comes to marketing, everyone and their brother is using video. Now we realize that some of the bigger guys out there may have bigger budgets to hire amazing video peeps to do their videos for them, but don’t be discouraged! You can make up in creativity and originality (and a little humor and entertainment) what you lack in funding for a major project. Remember it’s not the quantity, it’s the quality that counts!
#3 Video Travels Well
When was the last time a friend of yours ripped out of a magazine and handed it to you saying, “Here, I thought you might be interested in this.” Um, never. Now think back to the last time someone posted a video on your Facebook timeline. Yeah, like 3 seconds ago, right? Here are some fun stats for you:
- More than 500 years’ worth of YouTube videos are watched daily on Facebook.
- More than 700 YouTube videos are shared on Twitter every minute. (Ragan.com)
If you are still not using video in your business you are seriously missing out!
#2 Your Competitors Are Using Video
This one is a combo of #4 and #10. The fact of the matter is video is the new “popular kid at school”. Your competitors have been using it for ages now and are making money off of people that could be your potential clients should you choose to throw your hat into the ring and get in the game. (Could we have used any more cliches in this post? I think not.) You know what they say, When in Rome… (ok, so we snuck just one more in for the fun of it!)
#1 Your Potential Customers Spend Most of Their Time Watching Videos
Along with the staggering statistics in #3, we’re here to tell you that Youtube has over 4 billion views per day with 78% of people watching at least once a week and around 55% of people watching every day! It’s right there in black and white. You need to put your product in front of the people, and the people are on Youtube, my friends.
We hope you enjoyed our countdown. Please feel free to share your insights in the comments below. We would love to hear from you!
